Here is a stepwise checklist involved in taking your pets to Canada:
Step 1: Microchipping
Microchipping a pet before international travel is important because it is a permanent form of identification.Canada does not require microchipping for the pet dog and cat unless the import of the pet is commercial. However, it is strongly recommended that your pet should be identified with a 15-digit ISO Approved microchip for export documentation purposes from India.
Team Petspot specializes in microchipping the dog through trusted medical experts.
Step 2: Vaccinations
These are the following vaccines which are required to travel Canada
- Rabies (Validity: 30 Days before travel or within 12 months)
- DHPPi + Lepto (Validity: 30 Days before travel or within 12 months)
- Internal-External Parasite Treatment: Within 10 days of travel date
Step 3: Crates Or Travel Carriers
Crates or travel carriers are mandatory. These carriers should be IATA-approved and should be a comfortable space for your pet, especially when it comes to long travel. PetSpot has an inventory of all sizes of crates and carriers to suit every pet’s requirements. Petspot also provide Customised sizes of wooden crates as per your pet requirements.
Don’t worry if your pet is not crate-trained, our experts at PetSpot will ensure your pet feels safe and comfortable over a period of time in a crate.

If you’re planning to carry your pet as an accompanied baggage then there are two ways;
- Pet In Cabin: As per the airline policy, please check the weight and dimensions of the pet allowed with you in the cabin. As per guidelines small breeds are only allowed inside the cabin. One of the most preferred airlines for Canada is Air Canada. Other airlines include Lufthansa, Air France, KLM, Turkish Airlines and LOT Polish Airlines.
